Eleanor M. Kutchoodon, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, was born in Minersville, PA.
A 1949 graduate of Minersville High School, she continued her education at the former Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing. She took employment as a registered nurse at Philadelphia General Hospital and Hahnemann Hospital. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Northwestern State University of Louisiana and a Master of Science in Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia.
Eleanor was a dedicated health professional. She was commissioned in the Army Nurse Corps in 1966; and served 21 months in Vietnam. During her 20-year Army career, she was the recipient of multiple awards, including the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal – Korea. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
